Parents Who Are Angry Don’t Understand How Their Child Was Asked to Dance at the Atrisco Heritage High School Prom

Parents who are mad at the school are asking what the administrators were thinking when they chose a sexy dancer to perform at the prom. This weekend, the tape started going around the internet, and parents are now demanding answers from school officials. Since the film started going around, the performer, who was dressed as a woman, has been angry and worried about his safety.

Teenagers from Atrisco Heritage Academy High School had their prom last Saturday at the Kiva Auditorium Convention Center. Parents were shocked to see who was singing. KRQE News 13 heard from parents who said it was very disrespectful.

“People are just like, ‘Oh my God, can you believe this happened?’, ‘Wow, here’s a video!’, ‘Wow, that happened at prom!’, and ‘Wow, that’s so gross!'” “Not right,” one mother said.

A performer in drag was asked to do a show at the senior prom at Atrisco Heritage Academy. Parents KRQE News 13 talked to asked to stay anonymous to protect the privacy of their children.

One mom says her son told her what happened at prom. The tape has since gone viral and made people very angry. Another group of parents says that this kind of thing shouldn’t have been allowed and that staff and chaperones should have stepped in.

“What did they think it would get them?” “That’s just not right,” said another parent who didn’t want to be named.

“Why didn’t the parents know that this was going to happen at a school event?” Parents should still be told about what’s going on because it’s a school event, Morgan, mother of an Atrisco Heritage Academy High School student said. “Parents should be told about what’s going on during school events like dances and sports.”

Parents were confused about how the school thought this event was proper for teens.

“I’ve had more than one child at this school, but I’ve never had to deal with this problem until now.” “This year it looks like they’re failing everywhere—the parents, the students, and me,” Morgan said.

He told KRQE News 13 that he is upset about how people have responded to the video and how much notice it has gotten from the media. He says that since then, people have threatened to kill him and his boss. He didn’t want to talk to KRQE News 13 on camera.

One parent said she wanted to get her kids’ prom tickets back. In an email sent to parents on Wednesday, Albuquerque Public Schools said that the school board is looking into what happened and how it affected the students. They also say that this is about people and that they don’t have any other information at this time.
