Police were called to Chicago O’Hare International Airport early Thursday morning to reports of a person stuck in machinery. They found the body of a woman.
Just before 2:30 a.m., police said in a short statement, the woman was found “unresponsive and was pronounced on scene” in the 0–100 block of West Terminal Street.
There is a park nearby. Terminal 5 is where international flights go.
Police said the name of the woman would be made public by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police say that detectives are looking into the death while they wait for the results of the autopsy.
NBC Chicago said the Chicago Fire Department was called to Terminal 5 because someone was stuck in machinery.
NBC News tried to get in touch with the fire department and airport staff but couldn’t get through right away on Thursday afternoon.
