SPOKANE, Wash. – Better Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and Northern Idaho has announced that it has received the biggest donation match in its history.
Plans for Parenthood says that until July 30, an unidentified donor will match any donations made to the group up to $200,000. The money will go to patient navigators, whose job it is to help people who want to get an abortion find their way through a healthcare system that has become more difficult since Roe v. Wade was overturned.
There is something very special about Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and Northern Idaho’s work because it does it in a state that both strongly supports abortion services and makes it illegal to get an abortion, with up to five years in prison for those who do.
Planned Parenthood is still very busy in Washington, even though abortion is illegal there. A study from the University of Washington that came out last month found that since the US Supreme Court let states make abortion illegal in 2022, the number of people going to the Evergreen State to get care has increased by 50%.
