Thursday, Republican Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she thought former President Trump would “win big” in the next race for president.
“I still think this is his race; he’s been the clear favorite ever since he signed up,” Sanders said on Thursday’s episode of Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” with hosts Bill Hemmer and Sandra Smith. “He hasn’t lost that status, whether it was in the primary or the general, and I fully expect that he’s going to win, and win big in November.”
Sanders has always backed Trump. He was the White House press secretary during Trump’s presidency. She has, however, hinted in the past that she might not want to go through the process of being vetted to be his vice presidential pick.
“Hey, look, I love my job so much.” Sanders said on CBS News’s “Face the Nation” in January, “I think it’s one of the best jobs I could ever ask for. I am honored to serve as governor, and I hope I get to do it for the next seven years.”
Sanders said on Fox News on Thursday that both Biden and Trump “have a record of service as president.” When it comes to things like the economy and national security, she said Trump has “succeeded” and Biden has “big contrasts.”
Sanders said, “This is a very different election because both of these people have been president.” And the reason people go to the polls and vote is because that’s where Donald Trump is totally crushing Joe Biden. I think that’s why he’ll crush him in November.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s average of polls shows that Trump is ahead of Biden in the national race by just 0.6 percentage points, with 44.5 percent of the vote to 43.9 percent for the president. Next week, on CNN, the two leaders will have their first chat.
