Tim Griffin, The Attorney General Of Texas, Is Going To Court Against A Robocaller For Breaking Lifetime Bans

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. A press statement says that Attorney General Tim Griffin wants the courts to take more action against a Texas-based robocaller for breaking permanent bans.

John Spiller owns the business, which is called Rising Eagle Capital Group, LLC. Griffin says Spiller is running other businesses now that he is not allowed to do calls anymore.

The US District Court for the Southern District of Texas banned Spiller in March 2023 for calling people up to sell things over the phone.

Griffin and seven other state attorneys general told Spiller and his business partners they couldn’t do advertising.

“No one in Arkansas likes getting calls they don’t want. Griffin said, “I will keep fighting robocalls who don’t care about the law or the courts.”

The press release says that Spiller has started at least three new companies on which he makes telemarketing calls since he was first sued.

Griffin and other attorneys general want the court to stop Spiller from using any phone-related services because he broke these rules. This includes sending calls over the U.S. phone network, using text messaging services, and letting voicemail notes go through without rings.

The attorney general also wants Spiller to get rid of any phone service companies he already owns.

Along with these new rules, the attorneys general want Spiller to pay more than $122 million, which is the amount that would have been suspended if he had followed the first court order.
