At 6:30 p.m., a violent two-vehicle collision occurred on Route 220, approximately one mile south of this location, resulting in the deaths of one individual and the injuries of two others. State police and other emergency responders verified this information on Wednesday.
Police reported that Evan Geisewite, 29, of Loganton, was in a Mazda CX-5 being operated by his wife, Amanda Geisewite, 28, when the collision occurred.
According to law enforcement, Dwight Meyer, 29, of Lock Haven, was operating the Chevrolet Malibu.
According to Trooper Lauren Lesher, a spokesperson for the state police, Meyer was found to be travelling south in the northbound lane.
Two helicopters were dispatched to the scene and landed on the interstate; however, only one was utilised to transport one of the victims to a trauma centre.
Evan Geisewite was reportedly declared deceased at UPMC Lock Haven. Meyer and his wife were hospitalized due to injuries. The police reported that all three victims were confined to their vehicles.
The north and southbound lanes were both obstructed by debris from the collision. According to fire officials, the northbound lane was closed for an extended period, while the fire police were able to maintain the operation of one southbound lane.
The accident was attended by firefighters from Castanea, Lock Haven, Mill Hall, and Dunnstown.
