For Illegally Moving Guns From South Carolina to New Jersey, Six People Were Given Jail Time

U.S. District Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced Tuesday that six men from South Carolina have been sent to jail for planning to illegally sell guns, including nine handguns in New Jersey.

He is 31 years old and from Florence, South Carolina. On Tuesday, he was given a two-year prison term for his part in a two-year plan to bring guns from South Carolina to New Jersey.

Five of the other people charged in the plot, which happened from August 2019 to September 2021, have already been given prison time. According to the police, McFadden and his friends bought the guns through “straw purchasers” before taking them to Paterson.

As convicted felons, some of the other suspects, including McFadden, were not allowed to have guns in the future, the police said.

Prosecutors say that on September 26, 2021, authorities stopped McFadden and three others on their way from South Carolina to New Jersey and found nine guns on them.

When asked for a response, McFadden’s public defender did not respond right away.
