Driver Arrested in Fatal DUI Hit-and-Run in San Jose

A tragic accident occurred late Sunday night in San Jose when a pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place near Lincoln Avenue and Lonus Road at around 10:50 PM, according to San Jose police.

The driver, identified as a man driving a 2014 white Acura SUV, was traveling north on Lincoln Avenue when he struck a pedestrian crossing the street outside of any marked crosswalk. Authorities say the victim was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he later died from his injuries.

As officers arrived at the scene, they found the driver leaving the area. Police quickly stopped his vehicle and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). The man was then booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.

This incident marks the second fatal traffic accident in San Jose this year, as well as the second pedestrian death. The identity of the victim has not been released, as authorities are waiting to notify the family.

Local police are still investigating the case, and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
