Police say a fight quickly turned into gunfire outside of a Broward event space early Sunday morning, killing two and hurting two others.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Hollywood police were called to the parking lot at 2930 Hollywood Blvd., which is where Jaycee Hall is located. When police arrived, they found four people who had been shot. One of them was pronounced dead at the scene.
John Challenor, Jaycee Hall’s boss, told CBS News Miami, which is a partner news station of the Miami Herald, that the event was a baby shower. At first, Challenor thought he heard someone knock on the door.
John Challenor told CBS News Miami, “I open the door and I hear it again.” “Bang bang bang.” It turned out to be a killing.
The last three people were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where another person who had been hurt died.
Police said there was a fight right before the killing. Detectives said they already have a list of people they want to talk to about this case because they are already investigating it.
