A teenager who was charged with murder in the shooting death of a 19-year-old woman turned himself into police in Columbus.
Taarah Griffin-Carmichael was shot and killed on the South Side of the city. A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder and four counts of felonious attack in what happened.
Once the suspect is charged as an adult in county Common Pleas Court, the Dispatch will not name him. The suspect turned himself into police on November 27.
Around 8:50 p.m. on November 18, Columbus police were called to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Griffin-Carmichael with multiple gunshot wounds.
Griffin-Carmichael’s friends and family took her to the hospital, where she was declared dead at 9:18 p.m.
Detectives haven’t said why the killing happened, but they have found that it happened in the 200 block of Highview Landing on the South Side of the city.
