Fla. Twins Were Found in a Car That Wasn't Moving After Their Mother Jumped Off That Highway. Mom Could Now Be Charged With Murder

The deaths of the Florida twins, ages 3, who were found in the back of their mother’s car in February have been ruled murders. This means that the mother could face more serious charges.

Police in Miami-Dade County said Milendhet and Milendhere Napoleon-Cadet, her two children, were found unconscious in the back of her car on February 2. Shirlene Alcime, 42, was first charged with child neglect.

Police said Alcime jumped off an overpass in what looked like an attempt to kill himself before the boys were found.

Police told NBC Miami, Local 10, and the Miami Herald that the medical examiner’s office now says that both of the twins’ deaths were murders.

Miami-Dade police told NBC Miami that they are working with the state’s attorney’s office to figure out if the mother will be charged with murder or a similar crime.

Local 10 reported that Alcime had earlier pleaded not guilty to neglecting a child.

Local 10 had said before that the twins were found with frothing at the mouth. The police said they were taken to the hospital and declared dead there.

In February, police in Miami said Alcime jumped over the wall of I-95 and “fell from a considerable height” onto railroad tracks. Alcide was in serious condition after the accident, but jail records show that he is now being held without bond.
