ARLINGTON, Texas – Four days ago, two teens were shot inside an Airbnb near AT&T Stadium.
The shooting took place at an Airbnb in Arlington’s Entertainment District on Saturday night in the 900 block of Slaughter Street.
A man who was 19 years old was found dead in the house after being shot. His name hasn’t been made public yet.
Alexis Johniya Tyler, 18, from Mesquite, died soon after being taken to the hospital.
Police say a neighbor heard gunshots and then saw several people running and getting into a white car.
Investigators are having a hard time because the description of the car isn’t very clear. They are searching the area for possible surveillance video.
“I can say that we found several shell casings at the scene of the crime.” “Both victims were shot several times,” said Tim Ciesco, a spokesman for the Arlington Police Department. “That means it wasn’t just one person firing one shot and running away.” It was clear that this person wanted to kill and hurt people.
Police say the victim, who was 19 years old, was having a birthday party.
“All we know is that the 19-year-old rented the apartment for the weekend of his birthday.” His birthday was Sunday, and he was just about to turn 20 hours before he was killed, as I already said. “We are hoping some of the family members of these victims can fill us in a little more about what all was going on there, who they might have been with while they were here in Arlington.”
Investigators are not guessing about a reason. But they say it doesn’t look like the killing was related to a theft.
“I know that one thing we checked was to see if any valuables were missing from either of the victims.” As far as we can tell, nothing was taken, which makes us think that this person might have known them or felt like they knew them. “This doesn’t look like it happened by chance,” Ciesco said.
The police want to find more witnesses. They are also looking for video from traffic cameras that might help them figure out which car was seen leaving that area.
Two days ago, there was another murder in the same area. But cops say the two crimes have nothing to do with each other.
To help the police, anyone with knowledge should call the Arlington Police Department right away.
