Woman Shot Multiple Times Inside Peckham Home on Christmas Eve as 1-Year-Old Child Looked On

London, England – A woman is recovering in hospital after being shot multiple times inside her home in south London on Christmas Eve while her 1-year-old son was present. Police say the two suspects involved in the shooting remain at large and are urging the public to help identify them.

Shooting Reported in Peckham Late Christmas Eve

According to Metropolitan Police, officers were called to a residential address in the Peckham area at approximately 10:50 p.m. local time on December 24, 2025, following reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman in her 20s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service provided emergency care before transporting her to hospital.

Police said the woman was admitted in a potentially life-threatening condition and spent Christmas in critical care. As of Saturday, January 10, she remains hospitalized but is continuing to recover.

Child Was Inside the Home but Not Injured

Authorities confirmed that the woman’s 1-year-old child was inside the home at the time of the shooting but was not harmed.

Investigators described the incident as particularly concerning due to the presence of the young child during the attack, which occurred inside a family residence.

Suspects Fired Through the Front Door

Early findings suggest that two men approached the front door of the home before opening fire moments later. Police believe seven shots were fired through the door, striking the woman inside.

After the shooting, the suspects fled the area on foot, traveling from Cronin Street toward Commercial Way, police said.

Both men were wearing dark clothing. One suspect was described as wearing a gray hooded top and is believed to have been carrying the firearm. The second suspect was wearing a dark-colored hoodie.

Police Appeal for Public Help

Detective Inspector Jordan Gardner described the incident as a serious and disturbing act of violence.

“This was a shocking act of violence, carried out at a family home where a young child was present. It is vital we identify those responsible and ensure justice for the victim,” Gardner said.

He urged anyone with information to come forward, even if it seems insignificant.

“We know there will be people who saw or heard something that could help us. Even if the information seems minor, please come forward,” he added.

Investigators Seeking Witnesses and Video Footage

Police are asking for assistance from anyone who was in the area around Cronin Street, Commercial Way, or Moody Road between 9:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from residents or drivers who may have CCTV, doorbell camera, or dash-cam footage showing the suspects before or after the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify and locate the two men involved.
