A newly released dash cam video shows a very intense high-speed police chase in Miami-Dade, Florida. The driver ended the chase by jumping off a concrete ramp and into the water below.
Miami-Dade Police say that Melina Logan, who is 27 years old, went to a Honda store in South Miami on May 9 to take a 2024 Honda Civic for a test drive.
After the test drive with a salesperson from a car shop, Logan allegedly waited until the salesperson got out of the car and then quickly drove off with it.
The dealership called the local cops and the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) right away.
The affidavit said that an FHP officer finally saw Logan on the interstate and tried to stop his car.
FOX 35 Orlando got a hold of police dashcam video that showed Logan driving recklessly and changing lanes quickly.
That’s how fast Logan reportedly went as she made “aggressive lane changes between heavy traffic,” according to the document. She also tried to get around traffic by using the paved side.
The exciting chase was over when Logan hit traffic that was stopped and crashed into several cars before hitting a concrete ramp.
Watch the video to see Logan get out of the damaged Civic, walk up the concrete ramp, and then jump into a nearby canal.
Other police departments arrived and threw safety ropes at Logan to help her land, but she wouldn’t grab them, according to the police.
At last, police officers jumped into the water, and after a “brief struggle,” Logan was caught. She was taken to a nearby hospital and given permission to be booked into the Miami-Dade jail.
A statement says that Logan is charged with grand theft, aggravated fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer without violence, and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
