The woman in Maryland killed her husband because she said she found photos and texts “indicating” that he was “having an extramarital affair,” according to the police.
Nicole Ward, 50, of Bowie is accused of telling her 53-year-old husband Damian Ward to “pack his bags and leave the house,” which made the two of them fight even more, and then she is said to have shot him with a.357 S&B Magnum revolver, according to charging papers.
In a press statement on Monday, after the shooting on July 19, the Prince George’s County Police Department said that Nicole Ward had been arrested. Baltimore is about 30 miles to the southwest of Bowie.
At 1:45 a.m., police were called to the couple’s home in the 13200 block of Old Chapel Road and found Damian Ward inside with a single gunshot wound. At the scene, they said he was dead.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect shot the victim during an argument,” PGPD staff said.
Nicole Ward is charged with lying to police, reportedly telling them that she found photos and messages on her husband’s second phone, which is what caused the fight. It is said that Nicole Ward told police that the material showed Damian Ward “was having an affair with another woman.” There are no public records that show if Damian Ward replied to the cheating claims.
Nicole Ward faces first- and second-degree murder charges along with other charges. Online court records show that she was being held by the Department of Corrections on Wednesday without release.
