Simpsonville, South Carolina (WHNS/Gray News) – After fleeing from a petting zoo during a holiday celebration, two wallabies have returned to their facility.
The wallabies, Creed and Sylvester, fled the petting zoo during the Nights of Lights event at Heritage Park, according to Simpsonville officials. There are rides, ice skating, and a petting zoo at this walk-through Christmas celebration.
According to a municipal official, Sylvester was still being sought on Friday, but Creed was apprehended on Thursday.
According to CCNB Amphitheater manager Sharon Bice, staff members searched for Sylvester on Thursday evening. Drones were also used by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office to aid in the search, however it was canceled just before 9:30 p.m.
Sylvester was found, calmed down, and brought back to the petting zoo without incident, according to police on Friday.
How the wallabies got out of their cages is still unknown to officials.
In the same taxonomic family as kangaroos, wallabies are marsupials. Both of them are boys, between the ages of 4 and 5.
