has taken in 43 canines that were displaced by the recent flooding in the Texas Hill Country and is now putting out a request for assistance. Resources are being severely strained by the additional flood of animals, as the shelter is already at capacity.

River Oaks community remembers 4 members of the Burgess family killed in Hill Country floods
The Walking Club, which meets on the second Tuesday of each month, is one of the newest ways to become engaged. Volunteers walk shelter dogs to provide them much-needed affection, exercise, and enrichment. All you need is the desire to help animals in need; no prior expertise is required. The objective is to at least quadruple the number of volunteers before the next expedition, as there are now just four signed up for the club.
The public can contribute in a number of ways outside of the Walking Club:
-
Cat cuddler
Spend time comforting and socializing with shelter cats.
-
Match maker

-
Clinic assistant
Support the team in the shelter s wellness and spay/neuter clinic.
-
Pets for Life
Help deliver pet food and supplies to families in underserved communities.
-
Pet pantry distribution
Assist with regional events that provide pet food and essentials to those in need.
