Two Tennessee Men Arrested After High-Speed Chase from West Memphis to Memphis; Stolen Car and Gun Recovered

Two guys from Tennessee were arrested after a dangerous high-speed chase through West Memphis that ended in Memphis. Kylan Cunningham, 23, of Drummonds, and Tre’Von Burnett, 23, of Covington were the suspects. They apparently led police on a chase that went over 100 mph and ended with a tactical vehicle intervention.

In the beginning, around 11:36 p.m. last Saturday, Arkansas State Police were called to reports of a black 2021 Ford Mustang driving carelessly and almost causing accidents. Local Memphis says that dash cam video released by the ASP shows the Mustang speeding through the West Memphis intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Martin Luther King Drive. This sets the stage for a very intense chase.

The chase went along the South Service Road of Interstate 55 and then turned onto the North Service Road. ASP used a tactical vehicle intervention near the intersection with Martin Luther King Drive to stop the suspects. The suspects then tried to run away on foot into a nearby open field. Action News 5 says that soon after, troopers and the West Memphis Police Department caught both Cunningham and Burnett.

The Arkansas State Police say that when the car was searched, they found illegal marijuana, a loaded black Taurus handgun, several vehicle key fobs, and a device for setting vehicle keys. Before the chase, both the car and the gun had been reported stolen. Cunningham is now being charged with several felonies, such as criminal conspiracy, fleeing, having a gun on someone else, and theft by getting. Burnett is being charged with a number of crimes, including felony theft by receiving and criminal plot.
