Two People From South Carolina Were Caught After a Car Chase Through Three Alabama Counties

SHELBY COUNTY, Alabama —
After a car chase from St. Clair County to Shelby County on Tuesday morning, two people were caught and charged.

Alabama State Troopers said that an officer tried to pull over a Volvo XC60 for speeding, but the driver wouldn’t stop, so the police began chasing the car.

That took place on June 4 just before 7 a.m. on Interstate 20 west of Pell City.

According to the state police, the chase started on I-20 and went through Jefferson County and Shelby County. It then turned south on I-65.

During the chase, the Volvo hit a Ford F-250 truck, which only sustained minor damage, according to the police.

When the Volvo finally came to a stop, the 38-year-old driver, Chesnie Redmond of Fountain Inn, SC, was arrested and charged with several traffic violations and drug crimes, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

With help from the Alabaster Police Department, ALEA was able to catch and arrest the passenger who had gotten out of the car and was running.

Police from the state said the passenger was Denzel Talton, 26 years old and from Greer, South Carolina. He is also being charged.

There were no reports of accidents.
