EDINBURGHU. After Russia continues to bombard Ukrainian cities, U.S. President Donald Trump announced Monday that he plans to work with Russian President Vladimir Putin to seek an agreement that ends the conflict in Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia launched a volley of over 300 drones, four cruise missiles, and three ballistic missiles during the course of the night.

Two weeks ago, Trump, frustrated with Putin over the shelling of Ukrainian cities during the Republican president’s administration, threatened to impose harsh penalties on Russia unless a peace agreement was achieved by early September.
According to Trump, he would now give Putin 10 to 12 days starting on Monday, which means he wants peace efforts to advance by August 7–9. Potential penalties and secondary tariffs aimed at Russia’s trading partners are part of the plan. He stated that the official announcement would be made either on Tuesday or later on Monday.
Regarding the shortened deadline, Trump stated that there was no use in waiting. We simply don’t see any advancements.
Putin must reach an agreement. Trump claimed during a trip to Scotland that “too many people are dying.”
Russia has not responded immediately.
Trump criticized Putin once more for threatening to end the war while still bombarding civilians in Ukraine.
Trump remarked, “And I say, that’s not the way to do it.” “I’m disappointed in President Putin,” he continued.
During a press conference, Trump responded, “I’m not so interested in talking anymore,” when asked about a possible meeting with the Russian leader.
Nevertheless, he expressed some hesitancy in punishing the Kremlin, claiming to love the Russian people. He stated, “I don’t want to do that to Russia,” but he also pointed out how many Russians and Ukrainians are losing their lives in the conflict.
Ukraine has called on Western nations to confront Putin more forcefully. Ukraine’s president, Andrii Yermak, expressed gratitude to Trump for reducing the deadline.
Yermak stated on Telegram that Putin only understands strength, and that message has been made loud and clear. He also indicated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed.
Recent assaults in Ukraine
Tymur Tkachenko, the leader of Kyiv’s military administration, posted on Telegram that a Russian drone had destroyed the windows of a 25-story residential building in the city’s Darnytskyi neighborhood. He stated a 4-year-old child was among the eight injured.
According to local officials, the incident also caused a fire in the central Ukrainian city of Kropyvnytskyi, although no one was hurt.
According to the air force, Starokostiantyniv, located in the Khmelnytskyi region of western Ukraine, was the primary target of the Russian attack. There were no casualties or damage recorded by regional authorities.
The Ukrainian military is thought to have important airfields, as well as arsenals and depots, in Western Ukraine, which is located on the opposite side of the nation from the front line.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, its forces used long-range, air-launched weapons to strike a Ukrainian air base and an ammo store that held missile stockpiles and drone production components overnight.
