Trump Fires Back at Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina After He Says Abortion Isn't a Matter of States' Rights

Former President Donald Trump said that South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham was helping Democrats by speaking out against his views on abortion.

Friday, Graham said he “respectfully disagree[s] with President Trump’s statement that abortion is a states’ rights issue.” Trump said on Monday that states should make their own abortion laws.

The former president said in a Truth Social post that the senator’s speech will help Democrats win elections.

Trump wrote in a post, “Senator Lindsey Graham is hurting the Republican Party and our country” “At first, he wanted to ban all abortions, then he changed his mind and now supports permitting abortions up to 15 weeks. However, he doesn’t seem to understand, or maybe he does, that the Radical Left Democrats, who are ruining our country, will never agree to anything he or the Republicans desire. They really care about this issue and want to keep it going as long as Republicans let them.

“All legal experts agree that overturning Roe v. Wade was a Great Event. However, problems can arise when Great Events happen. “This issue cost many good Republicans their elections, and persistent Republicans like Lindsey Graham are giving Democrats their dream of taking control of the House, the Senate, and maybe even the White House,” he said.

A lot of pro-life groups spoke out against Trump’s position. Others said they were sad but hoped to “educate” the former president if he wins again.

Graham said after Trump’s announcement, “Dobbs does not legally require that conclusion, and the pro-life movement has always been about the well-being of the unborn child, not geography.”
