Several crime charges were brought against three people in connection with the kidnapping of a 2-year-old girl from a home in Bronzeville, Chicago police said late Friday.
Authorities say three armed people broke into a home on South Michigan Avenue near East 48th Street just before 5 a.m. and took the girl. A woman and two men, both armed with guns, took the girl and then stole a car and “other property,” according to a police warning.
According to the girl’s family, the suspect woman, Angelique Mobley, 22, is her real mother.
Mobley and Lamon Weathers, 33, were arrested in the 6300 block of South Kedzie on Wednesday night, according to police. Officials say Mobley was caught on charges of kidnapping, residential burglary/false reporting, and child abduction conceal/detain. Weathers, on the other hand, was charged with aggravated armed kidnapping and home invasion with a firearm.
The third suspect, 27-year-old Matthew Price, was caught early Thursday in the 1600 block of South Central Park Avenue. He was charged with felony aggravated kidnapping, home invasion with a firearm, and receiving, possessing, or selling a stolen car.
A detention meeting was set for all three of them on Saturday.
