Three people have been arrested in Georgia in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in January after she had been missing for a long time.
Maury-Ange Faith Martinez, 20, was last seen in Gwinnett County, Georgia, on August 28, 2023. This was reported to the Cobb County Police Department. Some months later, in January, Martinez’s bones were found in Hamilton County, Tennessee. They were later confirmed to be his.
According to police and jail records, Allen Kerr, Sean Deschauzer, and Jasmine Craig have since been charged in connection with Martinez’s death. This was revealed by 11 Alive, the Chattanooga Times Free Press, and WSB Radio. The news sources say that each of them has been charged with hiding a death.
Ana Darling, Martinez’s mother, told 11 Alive that she got a “strange” call from her daughter just as she was about to pick her up near a courtroom.
“She called me and said she got a ride,” Darling told the news source. “I thought it was someone who worked at the facility.”
In the end, Darling said, “It still seemed a little strange.” “After talking to her on the phone, I felt uncomfortable about it.”
That Martinez didn’t answer her mom’s texts after the call scared Darling, she told 11 Alive.
Martinez’s family said in a GoFundMe page set up to help pay for the search for her body that she had been “taken” to another place where a “male ‘friend'” was going to pick her up. This information was not confirmed by the police.
It’s not clear how Martinez died or if the suspects have pleaded guilty or hired lawyers to talk for them.
