Regarding the legislative session that will take place in 2024, Governor Wes Moore issued the following statement:
As a state, we can achieve significant goals when we collaborate and form partnerships. At the beginning of this session, I outlined four primary objectives: to make Maryland a more secure, more affordable, and competitive state, and to continue to make this the state that serves. On each of the four fronts, I am pleased to report that we have made progress for the people of Maryland.
As a result of our collaboration with the state legislature, influential members of the community, and advocates, we will establish the first-ever statewide gun violence prevention and intervention center in the state of Maryland, pass the most comprehensive housing package that this state has ever seen, and pass a revolutionary initiative to combat child poverty across the entire state.
This evening, we were able to make significant headway in Maryland by forming genuine partnerships within the Maryland legislature. For the second year in a row, I am pleased to announce that my comprehensive legislative agenda is being delivered to my office with support from members of both parties. Having everyone present at the table will result in our state becoming more powerful.
