ORLANDO, Fla. – FOX 35 News is finding out more about what the police are calling a “fatal road rage incident” that happened on a busy Orlando road on Monday during the day.
Daniela Cvetkova said that their brother Mihail Tsvetkov was shot and killed. Now, his family feels like their lives have been destroyed too.
“This has taken…everything,” she told Marie Edinger of FOX 35.
Mihail Tsvetkov taught at a school. He had a Ph.D. in German languages and had just started a new job at a university in Illinois, which is where his family lives. Orlando police said he was killed in a road rage incident on Colonial Drive less than two weeks before he was supposed to move back.
“My mother’s scream will stay with me for the rest of my life,” Cvetkova said. “When she found out, it was just unbearable.”
Police in Orlando said it all began with a woman following Tsvetkov around. Witnesses told FOX 35 that he was acting calmly and not yelling or anything when he got out of the car to talk to her. Police say that the woman then pulled out her gun and shot him.
“You can move your car and hit him.” Anywhere else, you can shoot him in the arm and the chest. Get away from me. Leave. She asked, “Why do you have to pull out your gun and shoot him in the face?” “That is the part that is very, very hard to process for us.”
The police are still looking into what happened and haven’t charged anyone or given out the name of the woman they say fired the gun.
If someone says they are acting in self-defense, the police will have to look into it.
“His heart was huge.” She said, “He was so nice.” “So I have a really hard time believing that he was involved in any type of altercation that could have been potentially dangerous to anyone’s life.”
The shooter’s family says they do want him to be charged.
