Tennessee Woman Charged in Hit-and-run Death, Allegedly Posted About Victim Online

PALMER, Tenn. – Authorities in Tennessee are looking into a fatal hit-and-run accident. Haley Layman, 25, faces charges in connection with Bobby Green’s death.

On Monday night, Bobby Green was hit by a car while riding his bicycle.

Bobby Green’s daughter claims the motorist posted on social media after the collision. “I will pray for you. I do not detest you. Clara Green remarked, “I just wish you had made a different decision that night to not drink and drive.”

That was Clara Green’s warning to Layman, who was arrested by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office less than a day after Bobby Green died.

“She hit him so hard that it hurt, tore up his right leg and ripped his pinky off on his right hand,” Clara Green told me.

Clara Green reported that after being hit while riding his bike, her father was given kindness by a neighbor in his final moments.

“She went and got a flashlight and found him, and she went and got a blanket for him because he said he was cold and sat there and prayed with him,” Clara Green told me.

Bobby Green died within a few minutes of being in the ambulance, according to his daughter.

Layman did not contact 911.

“All I can say is I just wish she would have done the right thing,” Clara Green said.

According to a police report, Layman acknowledged to drinking at the time of the incident and drove her car to a nearby county for repairs in an attempt to conceal her crime.

“The Tennessee Highway Patrol officer said that he had a piece of the headlight and stuff, and then someone else said that the windshield wiper was ripped off the car, too,” Clara Green told me.

According to Clara Green, Layman published a sheriff’s office post about the collision on Facebook hours before troopers apprehended her.

One of Layman’s claimed posts said, “Rest in peace, Bobby Dan.” “You’ll be greatly missed.”

Clara Green says her father struggled with homelessness and drugs throughout the years.

“I know he wasn’t always the best at that stuff, but when he wasn’t, he was great. “He was good, and he didn’t deserve it,” Clara Green stated.

She still loved him wholeheartedly. Clara Green, in memory of her father, wants people struggling with addiction to know that assistance is available.

“If you are on it, you can get help, so you don’t ever have to be in the situation where you’re homeless and you’re riding a bike to the store because you don’t have a vehicle,” Clara Green told me.
