Authorities say the 16-year-old daughter of a Tennessee police officer went missing after she left a Florida hospital on her own last week.
Pensacola Police Department said in a post on X that Abigail Kate Velez was reported missing on Thursday, June 6.
One of the people who works for the Pensacola Police Department and is in charge of public information says Velez left the Baptist Hospital on her own. Wood says that she doesn’t think she is in any danger. It’s still not clear why she left at this time.
News station WATE said that the teen’s father took her to the hospital, but no one knows why.
In a Facebook post, Blue Line Tennessee, a non-profit organization that helps police officers and their families, said that the dad is a state police officer and that they were on vacation in Pensacola.
Wood said that police are still looking for her all over the state.
WATE said Velez’s aunt, Nancy Barger, sent her a message pleading with her to come home.
Barger told Abby, “Honey if you see this, we are all looking for you. We love you very much, and your parents and brothers are so worried. Please try to get in touch with any of us if you can.”
Velez is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, according to the police. Her hair is dark blonde and her eyes are green. Anyone with knowledge about where she is should call 850-435-1845.
