Egg Harbor Township, NJ – A tragic accident in South Jersey claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy after he was struck by a speeding vehicle, authorities reported.

High-Speed Crash on Delaware Avenue

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Gary Battisti, 71, was driving at a high rate of speed along Delaware Avenue in Egg Harbor Township on May 17 around 2:20 p.m. when he allegedly struck the teenage boy, who was walking in the area.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Charges and Investigation

Battisti has been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances of the crash, including potential factors such as speed, roadway conditions, and driver behavior.
