But sadly, a 2-year-old perished in a Hockley backyard pool over the weekend, becoming the third child to drown in the past two weeks.
Drowning can happen quickly and almost soundlessly. Experts stress that youngsters should always be kept within arm’s reach of water and that regular monitoring is essential.
In and around Harris County, there are swimming programs that are suitable for young children. A few choices in the Houston area are listed here, including private lesson programs.
