On Thursday, scattered showers could hit western Kentucky as cooler, drier air starts to move in. By Friday, the heat and humidity will be much better.
The National Weather Service in Paducah says that Thursday will be a transition day. High temperatures will be between 80°F and 93°F, and storms are likely to happen all over the area. Even though the humidity will go down, there is still enough moisture left over to cause thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, especially in the Quad State area.
After Friday, the humidity will go down, and high temperatures will stay in the upper 70s to mid-80s through the weekend. Some storms may happen in southern Kentucky on Friday and in western Kentucky on Sunday, but the skies will be mostly clear most of the time. Lows at night will drop into the upper 50s to mid-60s, giving people a break from the stifling heat at night.
This weekend, the skies will be less busy over cities like Murray, Mayfield, and Owensboro. On Thursday, drivers near I-24 and I-69 should be careful because it may rain briefly and make it harder to see.
People should keep an eye on local news, especially if they have plans to be outside on Thursday or Sunday, when pop-up storms are likely to happen.
