Missourians can finally open their windows because a fresh blast of cooler, less muggy air is coming across the state. Overnight lows will be in the 50s and highs will be in the upper 70s to near 80 through the beginning of next week.
According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, Thursday will start out cloudy with a 40% chance of rain. By Friday, however, the weather will be much better. It will stay well below the normal temperature for this time of year, which is 90°F. Highs will be between 76°F and 83°F, and dew points will drop to make it feel warmer.
Most of Missouri will have mostly sunny skies through the weekend. In Columbia, Rolla, and Farmington, mornings will be cool in the upper 50s, making them stand out. For people in Springfield and Jefferson City, Saturday and Sunday should be clear days that are great for plans outside.
Lows in some rural areas drop to 57°F or lower, so people are told to turn off their air conditioners for a while. However, they should still wear light jackets or layers in the morning.
This long break from the usual summer heat should last until at least Monday. However, warmer weather may return in the middle of the week.
