HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Officer Ed Gonzalez said that a man was caught and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a man at an apartment complex in the northeast of Harris County.
It took place on July 20 in the parking lot of an apartment building on North Thorntree Drive, close to Uvalde Road.
Gonzalez said a 20-year-old guy, now known as Cesar Peralta, was found with gunshot wounds. At the scene, they said he was dead.
Investigators say Peralta wasn’t carrying a weapon on the day of the episode.
After a little more than two weeks, Gonzalez said that Akili McDowell, who was 21 years old, was caught and charged with murder in connection with Peralta’s death.
He has a $400,000 bond to get out of the Harris County Jail. He is going to court for the first time on Monday.
A probe is still going on. Gonzalez wants anyone who knows anything to call the Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100.
