Police: Trenton Woman Used SUV as Weapon in Fatal Attack on 67-year-old

A Trenton resident has been charged with murder after detectives claim she purposely struck a woman with her car, hit a house, and drove away.

Trenton police arrested 47-year-old Asia Brown on Tuesday for first-degree murder in the killing of Caldner Bell, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.

Bell, 67, died at Capital Health Regional Medical Center after being hit by Brown’s car, which jumped a curb, struck the pedestrian, and then crashed into a house, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Brown has also been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision. According to New Jersey Superior Court records, prosecutors have filed a motion for her detention before trial, but a date for the hearing has yet to be set.

Brown’s attorney is not named in the judicial documents.

Investigators arrived at the crash site around 4:12 p.m. and discovered Bell, who had been struck by Brown’s Lexus SUV, according to the prosecutor’s office.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the ladies got into a fight outside Bell’s home on West State Street on Tuesday before Brown attacked the 67-year-old and the adjoining residence. The agency did not specify whether the home the automobile hit was occupied or if anyone was harmed.

Brown rushed away in her automobile on West State Street, then turned onto Newell Avenue. She then drove past a construction zone patrolled by two police officers, who pulled Brown over at Montgomery and East State streets. Her car’s front bumper and driver’s side tire were damaged.
