CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — On Monday, there were reports of a shooter in an office building near a shopping mall in Tennessee. One suspect died, and the area was briefly locked down.
Chattanooga police said they started getting calls about the man with the gun just after 2 p.m.
“Someone with a gun was inside the building carrying out a plan.” “That didn’t work,” Sgt. Victor Miller of the Chattanooga Police Department told reporters. “He shot himself, and he is dead,” they said.
Miller said that no one else was shot, but he didn’t know right away if anyone else had been shot. He wouldn’t say more about the shooter’s plan because the situation is being looked into, he said.
A shopping mall nearby called Hamilton Place was locked down, and people were told to stay away from the area on Monday afternoon. On social media, cops said that the suspect had been caught after about 90 minutes and that businesses were letting their guard down again.
