Two people are behind bars after deputies uncovered illegal drugs inside a Monroe County apartment on Monday morning. The discovery came after a search warrant was executed at the Forsyth Gardens Apartments, where authorities had received information about illegal drug activity.
At approximately 9 a.m., Monroe County investigators arrived at the apartment of Tramaine Haynes, who was suspected of selling drugs from the residence. During the search, authorities found two crack cocaine “cookies” weighing 41.1 grams, along with smaller pieces of crack cocaine weighing 18 grams. They also discovered a baggie of powder cocaine weighing 9.3 grams and over 140 grams of marijuana. Additionally, drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, further supporting the investigation into illegal drug distribution.
As a result of the search, both Haynes and Taquilla Williams were arrested. They are facing several charges, including trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, distribution of controlled substances near public housing, and possession of drug-related objects. Williams is also facing a charge for violation of a family violence order.
The two suspects were booked into the Monroe County Jail, where they are being held without bond. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) noted that Haynes had been granted bond for similar charges just two months earlier, in November, by the court.
The investigation continues as law enforcement works to address the ongoing issue of illegal drug activity in the community. This arrest is part of the MCSO’s efforts to curb drug-related crimes in the area.
