Phoenix police have arrested a man accused of intentionally running over and killing a victim with his vehicle on Sunday. The incident, which led to the tragic death of 35-year-old Ethan Jaaziel Felix, occurred near the intersection of 16th Street and Thomas Road.
Officers responded to the scene on Sunday night after reports of a pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, they found Felix severely injured and immediately transported him to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, Felix later succumbed to his injuries.
Following the collision, Phoenix police launched an investigation and quickly identified the suspect as 38-year-old Miguel Preciado Jr. Authorities say that Preciado briefly remained at the scene before fleeing. Investigators soon learned that Preciado had left the area in his vehicle, setting the stage for a search across a broader region.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department tracked down Preciado on Monday after discovering a car in a desert area outside Tucson. As deputies processed the vehicle, they located Preciado several miles away. He was arrested and taken into custody by the sheriff’s department. Phoenix police detectives then took over and transported him to the city.
Preciado now faces a series of charges, including first-degree murder and additional felony charges. While law enforcement has yet to release specific details about the incident, authorities believe the incident was intentional.
This arrest follows an intense investigation into the death of Felix, whose tragic passing has left the community in mourning. Details regarding the motive behind the crime have not been disclosed, but authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
Preciado remains in custody as law enforcement works to gather more information. The Phoenix Police Department is urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as new details emerge.
