Philadelphia, PA – The new week begins with sunny skies and warm temperatures across the Philadelphia region, but forecasters say there’s a small chance for storms later in the week as a cold front approaches.
Warm Start to the Week
Monday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Areas along the I-95 corridor could even touch 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Any early morning fog will quickly give way to blue skies.
Overnight temperatures will remain mild, setting the stage for an even warmer Tuesday.
Hotter Weather on Tuesday and Wednesday
On Tuesday, hotter air will move in ahead of a cold front. Most areas will see upper 80s to low 90s, while coastal regions stay slightly cooler. Humidity will be noticeable, but heat index values should remain just below advisory thresholds.
Wednesday’s forecast mirrors Tuesday’s, though a few afternoon pop-up storms are possible. Most of the region, however, will remain dry.
Cold Front Brings Slight Storm Chance Thursday
By Thursday, a weak cold front will slip through, bringing just a slight chance for a shower or storm. Highs will hover near 90 degrees, with sticky dew points early in the day before humidity gradually drops from northwest to southeast.
Summer Conditions Continue into the Weekend
Friday and the weekend should remain warm and mostly dry, with highs in the 80s to low 90s. The cold front may stall or dissipate, leading to slightly lower humidity but still summer-like conditions.
Tropical System Worth Watching
In the tropics, meteorologists are monitoring a wave off the coast of Africa that has a 70% chance of developing into a named storm within the next week. Early forecast models lean toward a westerly track toward the Caribbean and Gulf. While it’s too soon to tell if it will affect the United States later in the month, it’s a system worth watching. If it becomes a tropical storm, it will be named “Erin.”
