Philadelphia, PA – Residents of the Philadelphia area can expect a stretch of calm, sunny, and seasonable weather to close out the week, though dry conditions remain a concern, according to meteorologists.
The week will end on a high note with late summer warmth and mostly sunny skies. Friday will feature highs in the low 80s with sunny skies in the morning and scattered clouds in the afternoon. A weak cold front moving across the region may trigger a stray sprinkle, but widespread rain is not expected.
Weekend Forecast: Warm and Pleasant
Saturday’s weather will closely mirror Friday’s conditions, with highs again in the low 80s and a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated sprinkles remain possible, though residents likely won’t need umbrellas.
Sunday is expected to be the warmest day of the weekend, with highs reaching the mid-80s and partly to mostly sunny skies. Overall, the weekend will be seasonably pleasant, ideal for outdoor activities.
Next Week: More of the Same
Looking ahead, the workweek will maintain similar conditions. Temperatures will remain in the 80s, skies will be partly sunny, and the region will continue to experience calm, “boringly beautiful” late summer weather.
However, meteorologists caution that the region remains unusually dry. Rainfall this month is already 1.08 inches below average, and the area is 4.51 inches below normal for the year, with only 26.49 inches recorded since January. By comparison, the region had received 33.02 inches of rainfall by this time last year.
Drought Concerns Persist
The lack of rain has contributed to emerging areas of dryness across the Delaware Valley. Some locations could enter a moderate drought when the next U.S. Drought Monitor update is released.
“We are seeing abnormally dry areas pop up across the Delaware Valley,” meteorologists said. “While the weather is pleasant, a little rainfall would be welcome to prevent further drought conditions.”
