BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A Florida lady was murdered in a multi-vehicle crash in Shelby County on Monday, April 7.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 49-year-old Lekisha Franklin-Morgan of Perry, Florida, died when the car she was riding in collided with a tractor-trailer on I-65 around the 227-mile marker, two miles south of Calera, Shelby County.
According to authorities, Franklin-Morgan was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the site.
The driver of Franklin-Morgan’s vehicle, 55-year-old Donald Morgan Jr. of Perry, Florida, was injured and sent to UAB Hospital for treatment.
ALEA is still investigating the crash.
