South Florida – In a major drug-trafficking sweep spanning Broward and Palm Beach counties, law enforcement teams announced a multiagency bust that resulted in the arrest of 24 people, the seizure of more than 11 pounds of narcotics, and more than $450,000 in cash. The 14-month probe, known as “Operation Trackside”, targeted distribution networks dealing in fentanyl, cocaine and oxycodone, officials said.
The Operation and Investigation
The investigation was led by the Boynton Beach Police Department in cooperation with state, local and federal partners. The Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution coordinated charges after detectives executed a series of search warrants that culminated in synchronized actions on Sept. 3.
“This 14-month investigation uncovered trafficking of fentanyl, cocaine and oxycodone and removed dangerous drugs and weapons from our communities,” said a statement from the Attorney General’s Office announcing the results of the probe.
What Authorities Seized
During the operation detectives obtained 17 search warrants, executing 15 simultaneously. The coordinated searches yielded:
- 5,027 grams of narcotics (more than 11 pounds).
- $452,026 in cash (reported as approximately $450,000 seized).
- Six handguns and two semi-automatic rifles.
- 11 vehicles and one boat.
Charges and Legal Next Steps
The Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution filed charges against the suspects. Of the defendants, 17 face counts of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine. Other charges include trafficking fentanyl, trafficking oxycodone, and solicitation to deliver controlled substances. Authorities say five suspects currently remain at large.
Multiagency Collaboration and SAFE Program Backing
Operation Trackside was a collaborative effort led locally but supported by statewide resources. The probe was aided by the State Assistance for Fentanyl Eradication (SAFE) program, which provides funding and coordination to combat the spread of fentanyl across Florida communities.
Community Impact and What Comes Next
Officials say the takedown aims to disrupt supply chains and reduce overdose risk in the region. Prosecutors will proceed with charging decisions and court filings as defendants are processed. Investigations to locate the remaining suspects continue.
