New Jersey Man Accused of Pouring Gasoline on Wife, Threatening to Burn Her Alive

Police say a man in Newfield Borough, Gloucester County, poured gasoline on his wife and held up a lighter while threatening to set her and the house on fire. He was then arrested.

At 5:28 a.m. on Friday, July 25, Franklinville police were called to the 200 block of Northwest Boulevard in Newfield Borough.

Police say that when they arrived, the suspect, 54-year-old Dominic Polidori, had locked himself inside the house.

Police say that Polidori was finally caught around 12:15 p.m., after Gloucester County SWAT arrived at the scene around 7 a.m.

According to Franklin Township Police Chief Matthew DeCesari, the victim was Polidori’s wife. He also said that she had tried to get a protection order yesterday but it could not be served in time for the attack.

Power was cut off to about 300 homes in the area and gas was cut off to about 25 homes in the area because of the threat of possibly dangerous materials, police said.

Police say that the power and gas have been turned back on.

“This is a sad case. I hope everything is okay. A friend named James Ferguson said, “I hope everyone is safe.” “It’s not something you normally hear about, especially right down the road from your house.”

Polidori is being held in jail right now after being charged with attempted murder and terroristic threats.
