The Governor, Jim Pillen, extended an invitation to pupils to attend a discussion about financial literacy at the state Capitol on Thursday morning.
The experiences of two students who are participating in a program that provides financial education were discussed.
By means of the Nebraska In-School Savings Program, financial institutions are established within educational institutions all around the state of Nebraska.
A few pupils even get the opportunity to work as tellers at banks.
“We set up a bank branch in our school every Wednesday before school for students to make deposits,” said Zach Roeber, a student bank teller at an elementary school in Pender. “We offer students the opportunity to make deposits.” When students make deposits on a weekly basis, they are rewarded with little gifts as an incentive. Students are encouraged to make deposits on a weekly basis.
The objective of the program is to instill in pupils the habit of saving money at a young age, with the intention of ensuring that they comprehend the significance of saving money as well as its ease of use.
Not only that, but Pillen also declared April to be the month of Financial Awareness in Nebraska.
