The Oakland County (Michigan) Sheriff’s Office announced that a motorbike rider died as a consequence of injuries sustained in a traffic accident Wednesday night in Orion Township.
The crash occurred around 8 p.m. on Lapeer Road near Morgan Hill Drive.
Jennifer Marie Billington, 48, of Lake Orion Village, was riding a 2012 Harley Davidson FLHX motorbike north on Lapeer Road. Meanwhile, a 42-year-old male resident of Royal Oak was driving a 2020 Dodge Caravan around the neighbourhood.
Deputies said that he failed to yield while entering the roadway from Morgan Hill Drive, and the motorbike collided with the driver’s side of the van.
Deputies aided with resuscitation measures until EMS came and transported the woman to McLauren Oakland Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Billington was wearing a helmet when he crashed.
The van driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt in the collision.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation.
