Motorcyclist Dies in Collision on Oakland’s I-880

An individual who was riding a motorbike was pronounced dead on Interstate 880 near Oakland on Sunday afternoon, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.

In the vicinity of Hegenberger Road, the California Highway Patrol received a call at 4:40 p.m. reporting a collision involving a motorbike and a vehicle on southbound Interstate 880.

When emergency personnel came, they determined that the rider had passed away at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has not yet determined when lanes 3 and 4 on southbound Interstate 880 will reopen, according to a representative for the agency.

There is still an ongoing investigation into the collision, and the California Highway Patrol does not yet know whether or not drugs or alcohol played a role in the tragedy.
