PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida — Because she was found guilty of “evil and horrific” sex crimes against her children, a mother from Port St. Lucie was given 21 life sentences plus 800 years.
Assistant State Attorney Katy Reid said that Natalie Wagner, who was 26 years old at the time, made tapes of herself having sex with her 1- and 3-year-old children in 2022. Reid told people that she would sell the videos on the Snapchat app for $5 to $50 if they told her exactly what they wanted to see.
“She was their mom.” Reid said, “She should have made sure this never happened to them.”
Reid said that Snapchat got two complaints that someone, who turned out to be Wagner, was posting about having sex with their kids. This is what started the probe. This was sent by Snapchat to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The center used an IP address to find Port St. Lucie.
The cops in Port St. Lucie got involved and searched her house and phone. They found disturbing proof, like more than 20 explicit movies with the family dog in some of them.
They also found Snapchat texts where Wagner talked about sending the videos.
“She tells people things like, ‘Don’t save this.'” “This needs to be deleted,” Reid told her. “She would do horrible things to her 3-year-old child if they asked her to, and she would. She would then send the video and hear from them how happy they were with what she did.”
Incest, using a child in a sexual act, and sending child pornography are just some of the crimes Wagner was charged with and found guilty of.
“She was having trouble with money.” But since she was selling them for almost nothing, Reid said, “she must have been feeling good about it.”
Reid said that prosecutors will often offer plea deals to people accused of crimes against children so that the children do not have to go through a hearing. Reid said that this case was different.
“There is no deal for this woman at all.” Reid said, “She needed to be locked up and the key should be thrown away.”
The judge gave the harshest sentence that could have been given.
“It’s scary that she would sell the innocence of her children for ten dollars,” Reid said.
Reid also says that the people who asked for the videos will be looked into.
The next goal is to make sure that the children’s future will not always be affected by what happened in the past.
Reid said that both of the kids have new caretakers. The 3-year-old has been to therapy, and Reid hopes that the 1-year-old will never know what they went through.
Reid also said that the term only worked for the crimes that were committed to the 3-year-old. There are still charges against Wagner for allegedly hurting the 1-year-old, which means that if she is found guilty again, her sentence could get even longer.
Wang’s husband is also being charged. Wagner told police that she kept her husband in the dark about what she was doing, which Reid thought was likely. However, he was still charged with failing to protect his children.
