Mom is Accused of Running Over Her 16-month-old Son on Purpose After a Fight With Her Boyfriend

A woman in Florida is being held after she reportedly ran over her 16-month-old son after a fight with her boyfriend, who was holding the child at the time of the accident.

The child was attacked and hurt badly, with multiple broken ribs, a partly collapsed lung, and a broken collar bone, according to a statement from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Aaliyah Ross, 27, was arrested on Monday, June 24.

Ross and her boyfriend, who lives in Lake Wales, Florida, got into a fight that “escalated” quickly, according to the police. Reports from the Orlando Sentinel say that they were arguing about how to punish one of her three kids.

According to the sheriff’s report, Ross put two small children in her car during the fight, while her boyfriend grabbed their 16-month-old child and tried to run away. In response, Ross is said to have “accelerated directly at the two victims and ran over them before she crashed the vehicle into a trailer,” say the police.

According to the cops, Ross took the badly hurt boy to her house and left him there alone.

The Sentinel mentioned an incident report that said Ross’s boyfriend called her and asked her to take the boy to the hospital. The incident report tells the Sentinel that Ross then reportedly told him he should take the child himself.

Ross is said to have told a detective after the event that she had threatened to run over her boyfriend before but would swerve her car at the last second to avoid hitting him, according to the police statement.

Police say that Ross’s boyfriend, who was hurt in the leg and lungs, was freed from the hospital.

The child is still in critical but stable condition at the hospital, according to another police statement seen by the Orlando Sentinel.

Police say Ross is being charged with child abuse, neglect, domestic battery, and leaving the scene of an accident.

It wasn’t clear right away if she had made a plea or hired a lawyer to speak for her.
