JACKSON, Mississippi (Jackson)
It has finally come to pass that the long-awaited appointment of a new superintendent of education for the state of Mississippi has been successfully completed.
Through a vote that took place yesterday, the Senate just gave its approval to the appointment of Dr. Lance Evans to the position.
Evans was selected as the candidate for the position by the state board of education, and their decision to propose him was made public during the month of December. He has a total of twenty-four years of experience working in the field of education, and he is currently in charge of supervising the newly established school system in Albany. As of right now, he is serving in the capacity of acting superintendent of the new school system.
Since the year 2022, Ray Morgigno has been serving in the capacity of acting superintendent since that time. Immediately after his appointment, he began his terms of office. Despite the fact that Robert Taylor was appointed to the position, the Senate did not grant its permission for his appointment during the year prior to his appointment.
It is anticipated that Evans will take over as the superintendent of the state on July 1st, as he is currently serving in that capacity.
