Mississippi Teacher Dismissed After Allegedly Serving Students Dog Treats as Beef Jerky

A local ABC affiliate, WTVA, said that a teacher in Mississippi lost her job because she accidentally gave dog treats to her children during a class party.

The Calhoun County School District wouldn’t say the name of the former Calhoun City High School worker who thought the treats were beef jerky.

The director of the school district, Dr. Lisa Langford, said that at least eight kids ate at least one bite of the treats on Wednesday.

According to WTVA, Langford also praised the school nurse for how quickly she dealt with the problem, which included calling Poison Control. The district also told the parents of the kids who were touched what was going on.

According to the local news source, the event happened during what was supposed to be a birthday party for some of the students.

On WTVA, they saw that at least one kid with a stomachache went to the doctor.
