VICKSBURG, MS – A 47-year-old man, Kelvin Lashay Jones, is facing multiple drug-related charges after a drug bust by the Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) on October 8. The arrest came after a suspicious package was intercepted at a mail distribution center, leading authorities to seize over 1,200 Xanax tablets, cocaine, and other illegal substances from Jones’ residence.
Arrest and Investigation Details
The investigation began when narcotics investigators from the Vicksburg Police Department, assisted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and the United States Postal Service, intercepted a suspicious package. After obtaining more information, authorities were able to secure a search warrant for a residence on Buena Vista Drive in Vicksburg.
Seizure of Drugs and Firearm
At the residence, law enforcement officials discovered a significant cache of illegal substances:
- Over 1,200 Xanax tablets
- 162 Adderall tablets
- 3 grams of cocaine
- 24 grams of Psilocin
- 22 vials of THC oil
Additionally, officers found a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun and $16,750 in suspected drug proceeds, believed to be linked to Jones’ drug trafficking activities.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Jones was arrested and is currently facing several serious charges, including:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute
- Possession of cocaine
Jones was arraigned in Vicksburg Municipal Court, where his bond was set at $700,000.
