Minnesota Man Stabs Pregnant Wife 34 Times, Calls Police to Turn Himself In

St. Cloud, MN – A 26-year-old Minnesota man, Saleebaan Mohamed Abdirisaaq, allegedly stabbed his pregnant wife to death before calling the police on himself, leading to a dramatic police response late Tuesday night.

Police Call and Arrest Details

Abdirisaaq reportedly called 911 late on Tuesday night, stating that “someone died” and that he wanted to turn himself in. The police were dispatched to his apartment in St. Cloud, where they found his wife, Falus A. Ali, 24, lying dead in a pool of blood. Abdirisaaq allegedly told dispatchers to “just come see”, prompting the officers to quickly respond to the scene.

The Murder and Stab Wounds

Upon arrival, police discovered Ali, 17 weeks pregnant, on the apartment floor, having sustained 34 stab wounds to her neck, chest, shoulders, arms, and jaw. A 5-inch serrated kitchen knife, covered in blood, was found near her body. The police reported that she had died approximately 20 minutes before they arrived.

“There was coagulating blood around her,” the criminal complaint stated, revealing the brutal nature of the attack.

Child Witness and Alleged Domestic History

Abdirisaaq’s 3-year-old child was found on the apartment’s patio and later placed into the care of family members. According to the police report, the child was overheard describing Abdirisaaq “punching” Ali, and motioning with a fist towards her neck.

The complaint also noted that Ali had a large number of stab wounds on the right side of her neck, suggesting a focused attack.

Previous Domestic Violence Allegations

Abdirisaaq’s history of domestic violence is well-documented. In February, he was convicted of violating a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order (DANCO) in Sherburne County. Additionally, in September 2024, he was arrested for making threats of violence against Ali in Hennepin County, which led to his release under conditions that he refrain from contacting her.

Criminal Charges and Bail Hearing

Abdirisaaq is now facing four counts of second-degree murder, including charges related to the fatal stabbing of his wife and the unborn child. During his bond hearing on Friday, the judge set his bail at $6 million without conditions, or $4 million with conditions.

Abdirisaaq remains in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for October 7.

Conclusion

The tragic case underscores the growing issue of domestic violence and its deadly consequences. As authorities continue their investigation, the community is left reeling from the brutality of this crime.
